The trek starts with an exciting flight in a Twin Otter plane to the mountain airstrip at Lukla, where we follow the footsteps of famous mountaineers along the trail to Namche Bazaar. We enter Buddhist Sherpa country, seeing colorful prayer flags, mani walls, and monasteries along the way. Trekking through the forest to the renowned monastery at Tengboche, we enjoy panoramic views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. We ascend from Pangboche to the alpine camp near Ama Dablam base camp, away from the popular trails, savoring the Himalayas’ wonder. The traditional Sherpa village of Khumjung offers insights into Sherpa lifestyle and local monasteries. We then fly out from Lukla to Kathmandu to conclude the exhilarating Ama Dablam trekking.

Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.
    You’ll see views of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayas on arrival. Our representative greets you at the airport and assists you through initial city challenges. Leisure time to explore Kathmandu’s bustling streets and treat yourself to local or international cuisine.
  • Day 2
    Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,610 m).
    Enjoy a scenic 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Start trekking gently through forests and villages to Phakding.
  • Day 3
    Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m).
    Trek through Sagarmatha National Park, cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River, and ascend to Namche Bazaar, the capital of Sherpa country.
  • Day 4
    Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar.
    Explore the local market, visit Sherpa Museum, or hike to Everest View Hotel for panoramic mountains.
  • Day 5
    Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m).
    Trek through rhododendron and pine forests, visiting the sacred Tengboche Monastery with stunning mountain vistas.
  • Day 6
    Tengboche to Pangboche (3,900 m).
    Descend to Pangboche village, passing prayer wheels, and enjoying close views of Ama Dablam.
  • Day 7
    Hike to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,600 m), back to Pangboche.
    Ascend to the base camp, experiencing close-up views of Ama Dablam and its glacier. Return to Pangboche.
  • Day 8
    Pangboche to Namche Bazaar.
    Return along the trail to Namche Bazaar, passing through beautiful alpine landscapes.

    Namche Bazaar to Lukla.
